New HSK Course 3 – Chinese for Advanced Beginners
New HSK Course 3 is the last book of the beginner stage in HSK 3.0. It follows the level 3 syllabus: about 1,000 words in total and 284 new characters to learn to read.
At this level you start to build longer sentences. You learn the 把 and 被 structures, conditions with 如果……就 and 只要……就, and how to add information with 不但……而且. You also learn to say whether you can hear or see something clearly (听得懂, 看不清楚) and to describe changes with 越来越.
The topics get wider: the seasons, health and exercise, food and cooking, finding your way in town, studying for exams, and letters and messages.
After this book you can get by in most everyday situations in Chinese. The workbook prepares you for the HSK 3 exam.
